The 2008 NHL Trade Deadline Looms, Who will be Traded

February 2nd, 2008 | Posted by admin in NHL trade rumors

The 2008 NHL Trade Deadline is quickly approaching on February 26, 2008. There are 3 teams who everyone is already counting out and therefore, many of the trade rumors circulate around these teams.

The three NHL teams that will be making moves before the NHL Trade Deadline are the Los Angeles Kings, Tampa Bay Lightning and the Toronto Maple Leafs. All three of these teams have some players that would be great fits on playoff teams and very well could boost a team to the Stanley Cup.

My picks for the Top 10 NHL Trade Deadline candidates:

  1. Rob Blake – at 38 years old and on his least season of his contract. He has played very well the 2nd half of the season after struggling through the first half after coming back from hip surgery.
  2. Mats Sundin – a leader and an outstanding all-around player. Would play well for any team.
  3. Olli Jokinen – still young and extremely talented. A former 1st round pick by the Kings, he is playing for a very defensive-minded team in Florida.
  4. Marion Hossa -unrestricted free agent at the end of the year and Atlanta doesn’t have a real shot at the Cup this year
  5. Dan Boyle – Good offensive defenseman on a lousy team, could help Cup contenders
  6. Vaclav Prospal – having an outstanding year. Combo of speed and grit is perfect fit for playoffs
  7. Ladislav Nagy – unresricted free aget at the end of the year, biggest knock is that he plays soft
  8. Brad Stuart – has playoff experience, but his level of play has dropped the last couple of years
  9. Miroslav Satan – still has the skill, but has no zest for the game playing on the Island. Could a playoff team change his attitude
  10. Peter Forsberg– he goes on the list because someone is going to claim him. But who?
