Tanguay Should be Traded to Free up Flame’s Cap Space

The Calgary Flames need to free up some cap space this season so they can sign some big names this summer.  That is why there are rumors that Alex Tanguay is expendable and his $5 million plus salary should be moved out of Calgary.

Montreal has supposedly been scouting the Calgary Flames and might be interested in Tanguay, who has one year left on his contract.  The swap would be Tanguay for Michael Ryder, who has under-performed and is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year and would just be let go by the Flames.

This move would free up some room to give Dion Phaneuf and Kristian Huselius their hard-earned raises.  This deal might already be in the works and could happen in the very near future.
