Edmonton Oilers to be Sold to Daryl Katz

January 9th, 2008 | Posted by admin in Edmonton Oilers

Daryl Katz is attempting to buy the Edmonton Oilers. However, this isn’t the first time. Daryl Katz has tried several times to buy the Edmonton Oilers only to be turned down eah time by the Board of Edmonton Investors Group. This time Daryl Katz has Wayne Gretzky on his side. Gretzky, the former Edmonton Oiler and current Head Coach for the Phoenix Coyotes has given his endorsement to Katz saying he is a true Edmontonian and the team should be sold to him. His latest bid of $188 million was rejected, and while some expect the owners to reject again, this time Katz might just get the push needed to have the sale approved.

The sale of the Edmonton Oilers to Daryl Katz would only be good for the Edmonton Oilers and the city of Edmonton. He has loved the team for a long time and has no plans on moving them out of Edmonton or Canada. He would be committed to building the team and restoring the glory days of the Edmonton Oilers. Stay tuned, because on January 21, 2008 the board will reconvene to consider Katz’s offer.
